Dental EmergenciesA knocked out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic in any parent, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our practice as soon as possible. In the event of an emergency, patients are requested to telephone the dental surgery as early as possible and every effort will be made for you to be seen by a dentist. We recommend contacting the surgery before 9:30 am in order to be seen on the same day.
-
Your Dental RecordsWhen you come in for your first appointment we will require you to fill in a current medical history form to assist our diagnosis and treatment. This is strictly confidential. We may ask you about any drugs you are taking please make a note of their names and tell us about them when you attend. If you change your address or telephone number please let us know as soon as possible.
-
ConfidentialityAt St. Vincent Smile strict confidentiality of patient records is maintained at all times. All staff must follow the General Dental Council’s rules for maintaining patient confidentiality contained in standards for dental professionals and principles of patient confidentiality. Records will not be passed onto third parties without the patients permission.

Nervous PatientsWe understand that many patients can become quite anxious when faced with dental treatment. To help make our nervous patients feel more relaxed, we offer Dental Sedation. Conscious sedation is used to relax you during your dental treatment; while you are sedated you are still able to communicate and respond to simple instructions but will be in an altered state of consciousness once the sedative has been administered. Sedation medications are considered lighter and safer than general anaesthetic. If you have been putting off dental treatment due to fear, anxiety or problems with anaesthetic, please get in touch for more information or a complimentary consultation.
-
Facilities for Disabled PatientsAt St. Vincent Smile we have special facilities to assist people in wheelchairs. Our main entrance is on the ground floor without stairs and our toilet facilities are designed for wheelchair access.
