Built in Layers, Like a Real Tooth

Good bonding takes time and care. Your dentist builds the composite up by hand, layer by layer, in different shades and translucencies, so each tooth catches the light like natural enamel.

We work with your natural teeth rather than against them, and shape every tooth around your face and the proportions of your smile. That artistry is what gives a natural, enhanced result: bonding that looks like teeth, not like bonding.

In most cases little or no enamel is removed. Where a small amount is, it gives a seamless transition from your natural tooth to the composite, and a larger surface to bond to for strength and longevity. Your dentist will talk you through exactly what your own case needs.

Whiten First, Then Bond

Composite doesn't whiten. If you'd like brighter teeth, we whiten first over two to three weeks, then match the bonding to your new shade.

Most people choose a natural B1 shade. Your bonding can be brighter, or as age-appropriate as you like, depending on the result you're after.

What Happens

Most bonding is finished within three or four weeks of your first visit, including the whitening.

1

Free Consultation

Photos, a look at your bite and an honest view of what bonding can and can't do for your teeth. A £40 deposit, refunded within 7 days of attending.

2

Whiten at Home

Two to three weeks with custom trays, so the composite is matched to your brighter shade, not your old one.

3

The Bonding Visit

One visit for most edge bonding, one or two for composite veneers. Each tooth is built up by hand, layer by layer, then shaped and polished.

4

Review and Polish

A review appointment to check the bite and the finish. After that, a polish at your hygiene visits keeps the shine.

Bonding or Porcelain Veneers?

Both change the shape and colour of your teeth. The difference is how much tooth is involved, how long it lasts and what it costs.

Bonding Suits You If

You have chips, worn edges or small gaps on otherwise healthy teeth
You want it done in one or two visits, with little or no drilling
You'd rather keep your enamel, and keep your options open
Your teeth are straight enough, or you've just finished Invisalign
You're happy to have it polished, and refreshed every few years

We May Suggest Something Else If

You want a big change in colour and shape across every tooth: porcelain veneers do that better and last longer
Your teeth are crowded or stick out: straightening first with Invisalign means far less composite
You grind heavily: bonding chips more often, so a night guard or porcelain may suit you better
There's untreated decay or gum disease: that's treated first, so the bonding lasts
